Just in case some of you have seen the results. I want to explain a little right now and later give all the details.
The short story is this Ben Sontage was top 14 in GC 30 seconds down from Oscar Sevillas and ahead of guys like Hamilton in the the uphill TT. So, we decided if anything happened to him that we would do everything in our power to keep him in the race. Well, he got a flat tire and so we as a team decided to go back and retrieve him and do a huge effort to bring him back to the group. Well, we were not able to get him back as the race started to faster and faster.
Also there was a very small time cut of 5% and we missed the time cut by about 30seconds. Now, there is an etiquette/un written rule that neutral support car will chase a rider with a flat tire back onto the group, well the Neutral support from a company that will go un-named at this time left Ben out on the course to fend for themselves. Which is how the day unfolded the way it did.
In the end the RIDERS on the team involved in the chase for Ben were happy that we did what we did and sacrificed for a team member. This had to be done, in order to show our loyalty to the other riders on the team, or there would be a void n the confidence that others would have in each other in future races. Most importantly is that we made a promise to Ben that we would protect him as a team on the race day!!!!
and I stand my my decision, because I want to have confidence in the team work of the rest of the guys which I now have more than ever.
sorry I did not have stellar news, but there was still good that came of the day, taht will last for a long time.

awesome Matt --that's what matters most in life!
When the big contract comes from an elite pro team it will be because of not only your strength on the bike but your ethic as a person and athlete. You prove that here.Way to go.
