First Saturday Ride Back Home

It was good to be back home with some good friends that I have not seen in almost 8 full months. Along with doing a local training ride. The ride I am talking about for those of you who have been down to Corpus is the river ride. This ride has a couple sprints in it as do most local rides, the first one is at the turn around out towards the Nueces River. leading up to the river there is a small climb that I followed an attack up. Coming back down the hill there is a 1km or so flat section where everyone sets up for the sprint so I tried to get good position. When I thought the time was right I got a jump on everyone as I thought then there were two guys(Donny and Bratton) on my wheel so I jumped again. At this point I thought I was gone. I was gone from the first two guys that had followed my wheel. As got closer to the line I look up for the sprint line and I give one last push and see a shadow to my right moving up and the next thing I knew Mike "El Sapo" Lidwell was overtaking me at the line and got the sprint. Good to see Lidwell dropping the "Hammer." The rest of the ride had the usual fun riding of trying to wear each other down for the next sprint at the end of the ride. The final sprint, was fun. Since Lidwell was sprinting well that day I figured I would lead him out. The only probelm was I did not share this with him so I take off and hold a quick pace for him. Donny is on my wheel so he jumps around and Lidwell is on his wheel so it is up to them for the sprint. I was not at the line so I don't know the outcome but I should have told him what my plan was, because they both thought I was going to try and jump back around for sprint.
