Coming to an end.

Well, the season is winding down and when I say winding down, it looks as if tomorrow will be my last race of the season. Every year this time rolls around. I have a feeling of happiness that I will be able to get some much needed rest, yet at the same time I enjoy what I do so much that I don't really want to stop the racing. Must be the competitive nature in me.
Right now I am at the house of some close friends of mine Zane and Terra Castro. I have stopped here on my way up to Dallas for a Criterium on Thursday (tomorrow). This is a race that I would probably not have done if it were not for the $20k dollar purse plus another $5k dollars in primes. $25k of which will be at stake with 2 laps to go. If you want to see a fast sprint that does not get a rider the win for the day just put up a couple thousand dollars as a prime, and you will be amazed at how many guys are willing to forgo the win for extra cash. So tomorrow morning I will catch a ride from Austin to Dallas. Do the race at 730pm, then get back in the car and drive back to Austin and go to sleep. Hopefully I will need to make a trip to the bank the following day. Once back in Austin I will hang out here for a couple days due to Hurricane Ike then figure out a way to get back to Corpus, o yea. I sold my car once I left for California. So, getting around in TX is a little bit harder than before, but I am lucky to have some really nice friends that also travel to the place where I need to go and they let me tag along.
What will the off season have in store for me. That is yet to be seen, there will be a lot of diligence on my part getting everything in order for next season. Which I am looking forward. I have learned and gained a lot from this season. Most importantly I have some really close friends that I would otherwise not have had. Also who knew that Ninjas were from Minnesota. Concerning the bike and fitness I have gained quite a bit of fitness and strength. Right now my body and mind are worn down quite a bit so as to not be able to show it, but I know if I have a smart and solid off season. 2009 I will be back with a vengeance looking to tear some legs off. As of now I am pretty stoked to be back home with family whom I do not get a chance to see most of the year, and some people might say well that's OK. For me it is not. My family means more to me than anything else here on earth. Without them I would not be who I am. Also without them I would not have accomplished everything that I have accomplished. This is because they are a huge part of what keeps me going in more ways than one. Every person is an inspiration to me. I will not go into this as of now.
Now that I am in one place more often for the next few months I hope to keep this updated a bit more.

Till Next Time
Cheers.

Matt
