Wow this is long

so what have I been upto? After Mt. Hood we packed up the van and trailer and headed back to California. First we needed to drop some bikes and bags off in Portland for Adrian. Who was flying home!! After this we drove to get some dinner before finally making our way out on the road again. We stopped at a Burito place man was it good. Really big and full of everything you ever wanted. After I inhaled my dinner as the guys like to say about how I eat when really hungry. When we were done for some reason the Coldstone Creamary looked really good, so we made our stop for some really good ice cream.
Now that we have made all the small side stops and our bellys are full of good food, we make our way south towards So. Cal. So our plan is either to charge all the way through the night or stop sometime around mid-night and sleep for a few hours. You might think since there are six guys in the car that we could just rotate drivers and make it through the night. Well, that is not quite the case when everyone has been doing a 6 day stage race. After a couple gas station stops while driving through Oregon and not being allowed to pump our own gas (some state law prohibits this). We make our way to Ashville around 1:30am and get two rooms for sleeping until 6am. No, you did not read that incorectly we slept for about 4hrs before getting in the car. We figured 4hrs in a bed would be much more restful than 4 hours just pulled into a parking lot somewhere.
The funny part was that when we arrived at the hotel three or four of us walked into the lobby and when the door opened a ding from an electronic bell went off and woke the attendant up who was sleeping in the back room on a make shift bed with no shoes and he had this hilarious look of suprise. More like What are you doing here at this hour look. We had called an hour or so before getting there and recieved a price for the rooms and this gentlman would not let us have that rate espcecially after he had the credit card in hand. When asked if he was going to give us the qoted rate he said the price is ____, then swiped the card and well we were soo tired that the extra 4 dollars per room was not worth arguing over. Any other time and we would have had more negotiations. So, we split up into three guys per room and sleep as much as possible.
The Next morning we wake up at 6am to go have continental breakfast. Everything was going well, since we were the first one there. Then Wiley comes in and can not figure out the waffle maker, which is not a big deal, but the breakfast guy thought it was so he is sternly tyring to instruct on the proper way to use the machine from across the room and Wiley is just looking at him with a blank look on his face. Mostly because of the fact that he has not had enough sleep and there is nothing positive that can come out of telling this guy "hey I have one of these at my house that I use on a daily basis but for some reason I just forgot how to use it." So nothing was said and the waffle was made no worries.
After breakfast, we all climbed back into the van and finished off the last 14 or so hours of driving. There was not too much else that occured during out trip that was unusual. We spent most of our time drafting off the back of semi trailers due to the fact that we had 5 bikes ontop of the car and a trailer full of 9 other bikes and other misc. cycling gear.
Stay tuned for more updates!!
I would continue with this one but I just became really hungry and dont have food in the house right now so I will have to go ride the bike to the store purchase food and ride back so that could take a while before I eat. So, I should get started.
