Ok, so where did I leave off. Yes, that is right. VOS and the Road race. I will give you a quick sumation on what happened. Seeing as how 17th and one minute down was not suck a bad thing since most of the guys in the top ten were so close in time that maybe me being where I was in the GC that this just might play into the teams favor. So our plan was to get Adrian, Jorge and Edgar into one of the first breaks that would stay away. This way we had riders that were a few minutes down on the GC in the break and the other teams would let it roll. This plan came to fruition and lasted for approximately 50 miles. After that we said that once the break came back we would then go to Jamiel and myself to try and get the stage win with a a small gap and move into the top ten or five for the criterium. With just over one lap to go I attack up the hill and get a small gap hoping just a few guys may come across and get a gap. More riders came across the gap I created. The only problem was the rest of the field came with them. So, I sat in with a lap to go and attacked halfway up the final climb with two other Riders Barberi and Switters. We were gone then three other riders bridged and I attacked with about 150 meters to go and they came across. Then with about 100 meters to go we all went for the line I was thinking I could get this and then we were swarmed by the field and I lost a handfull or two places. Not loosing any time to the field just a little bothered to get so close to another win or podium finish on this course and have it snatched away.
The next day we had the criterium, this went well. We decided on the day to try for the win. So Adrian and I made a couple moves to keep the pace high so our sprinters could sit in no worries. I went on a flyer for about three or four laps just missing a 50 dollar prime (preem) to Curtis Gunn. In the end Adrian and myself tried to set up Victor and Jamiel for the sprint Adrian was strong and did a whole lot of work. I did my job of trying to keep Victor at the front until Adrian took over then I went back to find Jamiel and bring him to the front as far as I could and had a samfu on one turn so he had to jump from my wheel to another in order to keep the forward progression. In the end Victor was 12th and Jamiel was in the top 20. So for the first big race as a team I feel we did well and I am looking forward to racing with the guys again, because now I know we have the horsepower to go toe to toe in the sprints and drive important breaks.
